Background of the Study

In Ganye Local Government Area, Adamawa State, adult literacy programs have been instrumental in promoting the use and preservation of indigenous languages. These programs are tailored to not only enhance general literacy skills but also to foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of local dialects and cultural narratives (Okafor, 2023). Through curricula that integrate indigenous language instruction with modern literacy, community members are encouraged to engage with their linguistic heritage in a meaningful way (Eze, 2024).
